Over The Weekend

Let's just say the weekend was adventurous... to say the least.

Over the weekend, Ann-Hamilton, Momma and I went to Easely Amused to paint the "Cotton Eyed Joe" painting. O my gosh, I have been dying to paint this one, unfortunately ours didn't turn out as planned. We were all hoping we might could actually frame this one and maybe even hang it on the wall... Wrong!!! Although, they turned out better than we thought they were going to as we were painting, the colors do not match anything in any of ours houses... bummer! But... on Monday (let's back up a bit) Stephanie and I went on an Easely Amused date, as well. Yes, you read that right. I went twice in one week, ha. Stephanie and I painted the "Tree of Life" and it actually turned out precious and I...wait for it....... got it framed. It's pretty stinkin cute, if I do say so myself. I strategically hung it on the wall above our bathtub, so you can't get to close to it, to notice its (many) imperfections. Here are a few pictures from the two trips.

My "Tree of Life" Framed.

On Saturday,

Over the weekend, I went to a Christmas themed wedding shower for Amanda Thompson. Anything with Christmas and Bloody Mary's, I'm there with bells on!! She got so many precious Christmas things. I was so jealous. Her little Chicago home is going to be just precious next Christmas!!

Over the weekend, we ate at the Hilltop, delish!!

Over the weekend, I continued my obsession with the new Jason Aldean cd. If you don't have it, get it. Trust me.

Over the weekend, my mother fixed the best/biggest Sunday lunch EVER!!
On the Menu:
Bibbie's Bar B Que Pork Chops
Purple Hull Peas
Cornbread
Homemade Slaw
Squash Casserole
Fried Okra

Pure Deliciousness!!

Over the weekend, I found my hang out spot for the summer.

After the shower, Kendol and I headed to Gwood for the last attempt at deer hunting (for meat) for the year. When we got there, daddy was putting the final touches on his new pier at the lake!! O my gosh, I can't wait to hang out there all day, once it gets a little warmer!!

Those were the fun sweet parts of the weekend, now lets get down to the nitty gritty.

On Sunday afternoon, Kendol and I decided we would go hunting together out in front of my parents house. The deer stand out there is a tent, so we would be covered from the rain and there is always a plethra of does to choose from. We're thinking we'll be out there maybe an hour and will be able to head back to Jackson a little earlier than we usually do... ERRRR WRONG.

If you do not appove of hunting, DO NOT KEEP READING!!!

So, there are 6 deer on the pipeline, I'm ready to shoot, get this over with and head back home at a decent hour. Well I'm at a bad angle, so I attempt to move my chair.... bad idea. They hear me. They leave, all but one. She's smart. She knows what's going on and she starts taunting us... just staring and walking towards us like she thinks she is "Mrs. Hotshot." Then she walks back in the woods and starts stomping and screaming at us. THEN, she has the nerve to come back out and continue to walk towards us, still thinking she is smarter than us...EEERRRRR WRONG. So, Kendol and I discuss if this is Big Mama (Big Mama has been coming to our yard since 2003. She is like a pet to my daddy, so if I shot her, it would be bad... real bad) We come to the conclusion that it is not her, she is not grey enough, so I shoot. One doe down. Get the meat, let's go. NOOOPPPEEE. Stupid deer is still trying to be "Mrs. Hotshot" and be tough. Kendol tells me I need to shoot her again. I say no. She will be alright. Then she has the nerve to try and stand up. So at this point, I agree she is suffering. This is when all hell breaks loose. I shoot. She's dead... so is my face. In my rush to shoot again, my gun backfired and the scope nailed me in the forehead. Not just a bump and a bruise... The scope gashes my forehead open. After I drop the gun, let out a few cuss words (loudly), Kendol cannot figure out what I'm mad about. He assumes I realized it was Big Momma and I've just killed my daddy's pet....Until I turn around... Then he freaks. I knew my head hurt and I knew it was bruised, but I had no idea my face was covered in blood. ME... ONLY ME. So we rush to the house to get it cleaned up. Daddy freaks out. (He is always home alone when I hurt myself... which is pretty often) They clean my face up... put peroxyde and neosporin on it, put on a bandaid  and give me an bag of ice to keep on it while they go tend to the deer. Kendol was even nice enough to bring me a beer haha!  All the while they are both blaming themselves (kendol bc he told me shoot again... daddy bc he bought the gun ahahaha) and discussing whether I need stitches or not. (Stitches... They've lost their minds if they think I'm going to a hospital.) I have still not seen this thing and now it's covered up. So, I tell Kendol we have got to stop by his parents house on the way home, so his mother can tell me if I need stitches. She's a girl, she will be honest as to which solution will leave the smallest scar on my forehead. Then I look in the mirror in the truck and realize that the bandaid they put on is on my eyebrows. Not only will I have a scar on my forehead for the rest of my life, but half of my eyebrows will be gone too ha!! So we stop by Kendol's parents. They can't decide if I need stitches or not, so they send me to Aunt NiNi's. Thankfully she says I don't need stitches and she butterflies it up for me.

So, here I am on Monday morning, face swollen, inch long gash on my forehead, covered with two WHITE (yes white) butterfly bandaids, no make up and glasses. I am going at lunch to buy some of those cute sweater head band things from Turkoyz, so maybe it will cover it up enough to walk out in public ha. I mean, I have to make it to the Bulldog Signing Day party Wednesday, right??

This whole process took about 5 hours and I wish I had it on tape. I'm sure it was all hysterical. But, i'm still trying to figure out who won... "Mrs. Hotshot" or me??... You decide.

As Kendol and Daddy both said, at least you have a good story!!

O and most importantly...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY FIRST LOVE, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE!!
THE BIG 3-0. My how time flies.

Over the Weekend

Over the weekend, Mallory and I headed to Memphis for our annual girls weekend for the Lisa Lassandrello 5k. I have done a blog abot this race before, but for those of you who are not familiar, it is a 5k race in remembrance of my friends Kate and Jamie's mother. It is most definitely one of my favorite weekends of the year, not only bc I get to spend a weekend with my best friends, but bc it honors such an awesome family!! When the race first started, tons of Tri Deltas would head to Memphis for the race and I'm proud to say that even though most of us have been long gone from Mississippi State, the Tri Deltas are still well represented, new and old. It makes me so happy!!!

The weekend consisted of two Sonic drink runs for Mallory and I, two long car rides, tons of friend time, a 5k run with snowy yards for scenery, some shopping (of course), catch up time with our old friend Fletcher (who just returned from rafting the Grand Canyon..awesome), pizza, a few beers, a little dancing and I even got to see Crystal Lee and Charlie!! Overall, I would say that the weekend was a great success and a much needed break. It's so nice to get away sometimes, see your best friends that don't live in Greenwood or Jackson and pick up right where you left off. I miss them more than they'll ever know and I can't wait til I see them again! I sure hope it's soon.

Anywho, here are a few pictures that I captured.

Warming Up Post Race. It was a toasty 28 degrees at race time.

Over The Weekend

Over the weekend... We went to my favorite place on earth!! The Delta.

Over the weekend... While daddy and Kendol spent the night at the deer camp, my mother and I went out to Websters to celebrate Katie's birthday. It's hard to believe we are turning 26. That's almost 30... SCARY!! We had a lovely chat with Katie and Michaelle over fried pickles, chicken quesadillas and fried hot tamales. Just what I have been craving!! Tyler and Chris were at our table too, but I don't really remember them being there ha. Maybe next time, boys!

Over the weekend... My mother and I shopped til we dropped. Well, I did anyways. I purchased Katie's birthday present, a baby shower gift, a wedding shower gift, a wedding gift and one of Kendol's birthday presents! WHEW!! Then, I felt it was time for myself... so I bought myself my first pair of TOM'S!! Yes, you read that right.. I just got some. I'm a little behind, I know. But i'm also, a little obsessed. I haven't taken them off since I got them. I went for the basic black for my first pair.. We'll call them my "LBT's" (Little Black Tom's) LOVE...
Well actually, I lied. I ordered a pair of Tom's off of their website about 3 years ago, when they first came out. They did not send me what I ordered. I have a pair of white Tom's with lime green and navy polka dots that I've never taken out of the box. What am I supposed to wear those with?? I'm too matchy, matchy to just throw them on with anything. Maybe I will come around. Anywho... on to the next!

Over the weekend... We ate entirely too much.. let's just start with Friday night and do a little recap...
Friday at Websters: Fried Pickles, Chicken Quesadillas and Fried Hot Tamales
Saturday: Crab Bisque and Spinach/Artichoke Dip for lunch from the Bistro and Chicken N' Dumplins for supper.
Sunday: BBQ Sandwich and Spicy Fries for lunch from Acy's and Chicken N' Dumplins for supper...
My mom also made rotel and turtle cookies to snack on all weekend...
HELLLLLO!!! Insta-15 lbs...
MUST WORK OUT TODAY

Over the weekend... I learned to smock. Yes, you read that right. I smocked little Hayes-E-Pooh a bonnet and I have pictures to prove it. I learned 4 things.
1) Cable Stitch
2) Baby Wave
3) Flower
4) Leaf
Just call me Martha Stewart.

Over the weekend... Bulldogs basketball had two SEC victories!! Go Dawgs

Over the weekend... Professional football officially fell off it's rocker.
It all started last weekend when Seattle beat the Saints. Then this weekend, Atlanta fell apart and the Jets beat the Patriots.
What is going on here!!!

Over the weekend... Kendol finally killed a buck. He has been hunting every weekend and has not seen a thing. YAY!!!

Out with a Bang, In with the New!

OUT WITH A BANG!!

I ended 2010 with a bang!! Last Thursday, I took my last day off, for the year, and I actually had nothing to do and nowhere I was supposed to be going, for once. (This was my third 4 day weekend in a row!!!)So I started the morning off getting my first massage ever, at Aqua the Day Spa. Thanks Kendol!! (christmas present) It was awesome and I wish I could get one every week. Then, I treated myself to a Caramel Hot Chocolate at Cups and took myself to the nail salon. I got my fingers and my toes done in MAROON SPARKLES!! Maroon for Mississippi State, of course, and sparkles for New Years... Pretty fitting for the weekend, I thought. This was huge for me... I never pamper myself, so it was nice. Then we headed to my favorite place in the world, The Delta, to stay with my parents for the 4 day weekend. But we couldn't make it all the way there without a pit stop at People's Drug Store in Lexington to browse the Christmas decor sale. I got three ornaments and two tall skinny snowmen!! They are so cute. I thought I controlled myself pretty good with only 5 purchases... really good actually, to be an over-obsessive Christmas freak!

On Friday, I rode with Momma to Memphis, to pick up Eleanor from her trip to Nashville to see Caitlyn. We, of course, did some shopping. We went to the Pottery Barn outlet and got Ann-Hamilton some new pink polka dot baskets for Hayes' room. I seriously could buy the whole store, but surprisingly, I made it out without purchasing anything. It's a MIRACLE!! We also hit up Anthropologie (and other places) and had lunch at Panera Bread!! Yummy. We then hurried back to home to try and beat the bad weather.

This was my first New Years in a while to not spend out on the town. Instead, Daddy and Kendol didn't even make it to midnight, so they could get up and hunt. Eleanor, Momma and I spent the night on the couch watching the weather channel and chasing the cat, that ran inside when we opened the door to see how bad it was flooding. 2010 went out with a bang, literally!! Some of the loudest thunder and scariest lightening I've ever seen.
NOW ON TO ALL THINGS NEW (SO FAR) THIS YEAR!!

~ A bulldog football team with a winning season and a bowl game win!!
On Saturday, we all woke up pretty early to get everything ready for our "tailgate party" for the game! I believe we had plenty of food for the five of us.

Menu:
Marinated Cheese
Mexican Layer Dip
Hot Wings
Smoked Sausage
Deer Sausage
Peach Cobbler

Cowbelle... Check
Party Food... Check
Game Time!!

The five of us cheered our bulldogs to a 52-14 victory over Michigan in the Gator Bowl!! It's so much more fun to cheer on a team that's winning. I've spent many, many years cheering on the bulldogs but this year has, by far, been the best and most fun. I can't wait for Dan the Man to bring the Gator Bowl and Egg Bowl trophies to Jackson for the signing day party and see what he has to say about this season and next.

A little "Dawgpound Rock" to get the game going!!

I wish (so badly) that I could've been part of this sea of maroon!!

MVP Chris Relf with the Gator Bowl Trophy

Celebration time!

Relf wearing Nick Bell's jersey and holding Nick's mom's hand after the game. The article that goes with this picture will make you cry.
The rest of the weekend consisted of hunting, eating our black eyed peas and cabbage, more football and ended with going to church on Sunday morning.

~New Job!!
This morning, I started my new position at work. I've moved to the other end of the office and will now be working in the Individual Disability Department. I will also continue doing most of my previous position with the Group Department. As for now, I think doing both jobs will be possible, but we will see in a couple of weeks when everything gets going really good. Wish me luck!!

~New Radio for work!!
Also at work, I have downloaded the "new" pandora.com. My pandora (online radio for those of you who don't know) that i've always had was limited to 40 hours of music a month. Everyone says that they have never heard of such, but it would never let me download a new one... Until this morning at my new computer. Hopefully I will have unlimited music for work and will not run out on like the 10th, like I usually do.

~New and Improved Things around the house
As you all should know by now, I get bored with my house very easy and am always changing things around. Here are some new things I have done during the holidays with our new things.

First of all, we didn't change the living room back to it's previous set up, after taking the Christmas tree down. We decided to leave it as is and move our two polka dotted chairs in for more seating. Then there was a need for a table. I had forgotten all about the precious green bedside table that I got from my Great Great Aunt's house. It has a dresser and desk to match, as well. I always thought the color green was awful and I would be re-doing them when I had a place to put them. Turns out, the green matches my chairs perfect. It just needed some new drawer knobs, which I took care of at our trip to Anthropologie!! How cute.

Table with old knob and missing knob.

Knew Knobs!!!!

Finished Product
Kendol received two new Mississippi State pictures for Christmas, which I used to accessorize the extra bathroom. The walls are green and the shower curtain is black and white toile. I never had a color to accessorize with, but now I do!! So, I can get towels monogrammed and such. YAY!!

MSU picture my parents got him, fits this spot perfect!!

And the one that I got him fits perfect above the towel rack! If you can't tell, that's a map of Mississippi State's campus. I got one of these for "the delta" at MS Gifts, then ran across this one in Jackson. I had to get it! http://www.mycityprints.com/

This is my delta one!!
Of course, once I re-did the bathroom, I had all of my copper crosses to hang somewhere. So, that led to re-arranging one of the extra bedrooms.

Then there are all of the little things in the kitchen!!

New KitchAid Mixer!! WOO HOOO

Finally got us a much needed spoon rest!! I found it at our trip to Anthropoligie. Hoping our Anthropologie has a different pattern, so I can have two, but not two of the same.
OK OK OK!! That's all for the house... for now!!!

Other Things New....
~I now have to be at work at 7:30, but I get off at 4:30!

~Kendol and I have made it our mission to find a church home, here in Jackson. We can never agree on a church. Kendol is Methodist and very traditional. I am Baptist and am more contemporary. That makes things difficult. We will find one soon! I just know it. Feel free to throw out ideas.

~I am now back on the mission of cutting back on soft drinks since I slacked off during the holidays.
~I also plan to get back into my running and regular exercise that I have slacked off on as well bc it's so cold outside!!

Ok, I believe that's enough "new" for my life for three days. At this point, I think it's safe to say, this years' off to a great start!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
